Registration Ready? Don't Miss Your Windows of Opportunity.
Published in The Aggie on October 25, 2006
Registration time can be a scheduling challenge. You spend three hours and five highlighters making sure your courses and lab hours coordinate, only to discover the classes you want are full and you're number 47 on the waitlist for Human Development 10.
It's time to rethink your options.
Forget the pens, paper and constant thumbing back-and-forth between Post-it-marked pages. When your pass time comes along, close your course catalog and visit some handy websites instead.
Six windows to a perfect schedule:
General Catalog Online registrar.ucdavis.edu/ucdwebcatalog
Why buy the course catalog when you can download it for free? Find out which classes you need and what they're all about. Check the General Catalog Supplement/Addendum for up-to-date changes to courses and programs at registrar.ucdavis.edu/ucdwebcatalog/pdfsupp.html
Open Courses Listing registrar.ucdavis.edu/ocl/
Check for course availability. This site is updated periodically between 6 a.m. and midnight, Monday through Friday.
Siscast.com siscast.com
Plan your ideal schedule. Enter a list of desired classes, weekdays and times. Siscast builds a schedule just for you. It even features a GE finder!
SISWEB sisweb.ucdavis.edu
Once you've planned your schedule, register for classes with SISWEB. SISWEB's "Look up Classes to Add" feature makes the process quick and easy. Don't waste time looking for CRNs; just search for your classes, click, and you're registered.
IT Express computingaccounts.ucdavis.edu
Registering for classes via SISWEB requires your Kerberos password. Can't remember it? IT Express can help.
MyUCDavis my.ucdavis.edu
Now that your schedule is set, visit your MyUCDavis web page for specific class information.
With your schedule in place, it is time to think about books, so take a couple more URLs for the road:
Siscast.com siscast.com
We meet again! Simply enter your classes and click "View Textbooks." Not only does it list the books you'll need, it helps you buy them, new or used, from amazon.com. The prices are great and shipping is free for purchases over $25.
ASUCD Book Exchange bookexchange.ucdavis.edu
Check for prices and availability of books you need and check on the status of books you want to sell on the book exchange website. Then haul your used books to the book exchange at King's Lounge on the second floor of the Memorial Union.
Note: Siscast.com is not an official UC Davis website. Please contact siscast.com directly for assistance or support.
