Techies Snag the Best Summer Jobs!

Whether you're attending the Summer Job Fair today, or are just looking for a way to earn money this summer and beyond, you might want to consider one of the technology-related jobs available on campus. Campus jobs are ideal for students, as many departments will work around your class schedule, and give you time off for big school projects, finals, and holiday breaks. The following list details campus jobs and relevant contact information; however, not all positions may be available at this time.
- ASUCD Creative Media: Design Web sites, create ads, and develop logos for campus units. Visit asucd.ucdavis.edu/jobs to view and apply for available jobs.
- The California Aggie: Assist in creating design and layout. Proficiency with software, hardware, and an eye for aesthetics required. Contact personnel@californiaaggie.com.
- Computer Room Consultant: CRCs help students who use the campus computerrooms. This job entails basic troubleshooting of hardware and software problems, maintaining the cleanliness of rooms, and assisting faculty. Other administrative jobs at the computer rooms (which don't require tech skills) are also available to students. Visit clm.ucdavis.edu/jobs for more information.
- Computer Lab Hardware Support: Intermediate-to-advanced hardware and software troubleshooting, equipment installation and repair, test and debug new software. Opportunity for special projects. Visit clm.ucdavis.edu/jobs for more info.
- Educational Technology (ET) Partners: Help faculty members learn to use educational technology, such as PowerPoint and MyUCDavis. Training provided if needed. Visit etpartners.ucdavis.edu or call Chris Sarason (752-9545).
- Information and Education Technology: Produce newsletters, websites, ads, and brochures about campus technology services. Responsibilities also include writing, web design, and web support. No tech background required for writing position. Visit iet.ucdavis.edu/studentjob.cfm for more info.
- Mediaworks: Work with UC Davis' center for professional media services. Opportunities to program and test online courses, or work as videographer for staff/faculty video projects. Visit iet.ucdavis.edu/studentjobs.cfm to view available positions.
- Network Operations Center Tech Support: Assist with telephone help desk for campus data and voice systems. Good customer service skills and some computer skills required. Contact Steve Edington (754-7256).
