Burn the Midnight Oil!
Extended Hours at the MU Station Computer Lab

March 2, 2004

Need extra time to finish your final projects or prep for exams? Worried that you won’t have enough time to use a campus computer or printer? Luckily, the Memorial Union Station computer lab will be extending their hours just before finals week, giving you a few extra late-night hours to finish your work!

March 8–11 and March 15-16, the MU Station lab will be open til 2AM. During finals week, the lab will resume regular hours.

A few pointers for making the best use of the computer labs:

  • Check computer room availability at clm.ucdavis.edu/rooms/available/. You can also check from your Web-enabled cell phone at clm.ucdavis.edu/wap/seatswap.wml.
  • Visit the computer classroom in 93 Hutchison Hall. Between this classroom and the new open access room in 75 Hutchison Hall, there are close to 70 PCs available for use all in the same building. You also might want to try the computer classrooms in Olson Hall, but be sure to check the “Class in Session” sign outside of the room before entering to make sure a class isn’t in session. (You wouldn’t want to interrupt a class full of students taking their final!)
  • Be especially courteous of other students in the computer rooms during crunch time. Someone else may need a computer more desperately than you do, so if you’re just browsing the web or doing other non-academic work, let someone else take your spot.
  • Be safe at night! During finals week, the Campus Escort Service will be running from 6:00pm to 1:00am, an hour later than usual. Call 752-1727 for a ride. Remember, walk with friends if possible, stay in well-lighted areas, and walk confidently. For more information about campus safety, visit the Campus Violence Prevention Program website at cvpp.ucdavis.edu.
