Crowded Computer Rooms? No Problem!
Posted on February 10, 2005
Uh oh, it's that time of day again. The sun is shining brightly, the breeze is crisp and cool, and you have exactly five minutes to print out your term paper and haul yourself to class-but it's 8:00 a.m. and none of the campus computer rooms are open, right? Or maybe it's noon, and they are bound to be swarming with people in the same situation as you. Don't you wish it were easier to find a computer when you need one? Well, now it is.
The Early Bird Special
Now you can check your email or print out lecture notes before
your 8:00 a.m. class. Two of the most popular computer rooms,
the MU Station (177 Memorial Union) and 15 Olson, now open at
7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. (All other computer rooms open
at 8:00 a.m.). The new hours are on a trial basis for Winter
and Spring quarters of 2005, and usage will then be evaluated
to determine if these "Early Bird" hours should be continued
or expanded in the future.
Visit The New Computer Classroom
On January 31, the computer classroom at 2020 Sciences Lab Building
opened its doors for business. Located in the recently completed
structure on Hutchison Road (near Briggs Hall and Storer Hall),
the newest computer classroom is the largest on campus. It is
also the first computer classroom that was planned before the
building that would eventually house it was built.
Featuring the standard media technology and 41 computer stations,
2020 SLB will be used primarily for Division of Biological Sciences
classes. When classes are not in session, however, the room
will be open access, available to all students, faculty, and
staff Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Friday
from 8:00 a.m. to -5:00 p.m. This quarter only - Winter 2005
- the 2020 computer classroom will be entirely open-access as
classes have not been scheduled here until Spring Quarter.
So go ahead and drop in for "Early Bird" hours on your way to class in the morning, or visit the new computer classroom today! To check out real-time seat availability in all of the campus computer rooms, visit clm.ucdavis.edu/available.
